About the role#
We are looking for an Airframe/Structures Engineering Intern to join our team in San Francisco for the summer of 2027. You will work alongside full-time engineers to design, analyze, and test structures for high-performance aircraft. This is a full-time, in-person position where you will own a scoped project and present your findings at the end of the summer.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to the design, analysis, build, and test of composite and metallic structures.
- Perform CAD modeling, create drawings, and conduct structural analysis using hand calculations and FEA.
- Assist with trade studies that balance performance, weight, cost, and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with aero, propulsion, manufacturing, and test teams to support structural requirements.
- Participate in design reviews, manufacturing support, and testing activities.
- Document your work and follow configuration control practices.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in structural design and analysis through coursework, clubs, research, or previous internships.
- Familiarity with composite and metallic materials, design principles, and manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as NX or SolidWorks.
- Exposure to structural analysis methods including hand calculations and FEA tools like Nastran, Abaqus, or Ansys.
- Ability to work collaboratively and take initiative on technical tasks.

- Modality: This is an on-site, full-time role requiring attendance five days a week.
- Compensation: $40 to $55 per hour.
