About the role#
The YieldStar Sensor Group in Wilton, CT, is seeking a co-op to join our team for at least 6 months. You will support the development of optical and photonic sensor systems used in our photolithography tools. This role requires working on-site to ensure collaboration and innovation across our engineering projects.
What you'll do#
- Perform optical design, tolerancing, and modeling using CodeV or Zemax.
- Conduct physical optics simulations, including wave propagation, partial coherence calculations, and polarization optics modeling.
- Build and align complex sensors using mechanical, collimation, and interferometry tools.
- Work with optical devices such as objectives, relays, fibers, cameras, and detectors.
- Identify process bottlenecks and drive technical improvements.
- Complete assignments independently or as part of a team.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in optical engineering, physics, or a closely related field. We prefer Master or PhD students, though undergraduates with specific expertise in optical design are encouraged to apply.
- Experience with optical design and tolerancing software like CodeV.
- Background in physical optics modeling using tools like FRED.
- Practical experience with optical sensor alignment, including the use of collimators, mechanical gaging, and interferometers.
- Familiarity with optical sensor metrology test design and build.
- Ability to read and interpret technical data and documents.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a demanding environment.
- Willingness to work in a clean room environment, which requires wearing coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, and gloves.
