    About the role#

    Antigua Veterinary Practice offers a clinical externship for students currently enrolled in a DVM program. This program provides hands-on experience in a small animal practice to help you prepare for your career after graduation. You will work alongside our veterinary team to practice problem-solving, technical, and communication skills under the supervision of a mentor doctor. Rotations are flexible, typically lasting two to three weeks, though they can range from two to eight weeks depending on your curriculum requirements. Your schedule will include a mix of days, evenings, and weekends.

    What you'll do#

    • Gather patient histories and conduct physical examinations.
    • Create diagnostic and therapeutic plans.
    • Scrub in to surgery and assist with medical case management.
    • Deliver wellness care and refine your client communication skills.
    • Write medical records, including SOAPs, within the time constraints of a daily practice.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in an accredited DVM program.
    • Authorization to work in the United States.
    • Proof of professional liability insurance, which must be submitted with your application.
    • A commitment to upholding professional and ethical standards of practice.

    • Location: St. Augustine, Florida.
    • Work modality: On-site.
    • Compensation: A stipend of $250 per week is provided.
    • Term: Rolling.
