About the role#
This externship program provides practical experience in a small animal practice. You will work alongside our veterinary team to gain hands-on experience and prepare for your career after graduation. We offer flexible rotations lasting between two and eight weeks, though most students choose a duration of two or three weeks. Your schedule will include a mix of day, evening, and weekend shifts. You will be assigned a mentor doctor who provides instruction and evaluates your performance based on your college program requirements.
What you'll do#
- Gather patient histories and perform physical examinations.
- Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans for medical cases.
- Scrub in to surgery and assist in managing patient care.
- Provide wellness care and refine your technical skills.
- Develop client communication skills.
- Produce accurate medical records and SOAPs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited DVM program.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Proof of professional liability insurance.
- Familiarity with the Veterinary Practice Act and the required scope of supervision.
- Professional behavior and attire consistent with our team standards.
