About the role#
This is a full-time, on-site internship based in Des Moines, Iowa. You will work directly on the factory shop floor to support our production team and contribute to ongoing continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires being on your feet for up to 4 hours at a time and the ability to lift up to 45 lbs.
What you'll do#
- Ensure all safety regulations are followed and identify potential hazards.
- Report or correct unsafe equipment, acts, and product deviations.
- Evaluate manufacturing processes using time studies and process flow analysis.
- Find inefficiencies and recommend improvements for workflow, automation, and material handling.
- Collect and interpret quality data to identify trends and root causes of defects.
- Create and document Standard Work Instructions for production staff.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a manufacturing-relevant four-year degree program, such as Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical instructions.
- High mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform moderate mathematical calculations.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with engineers and production teams.
- Must be at least 18 years old and fluent in English.
- Previous internship or academic project experience is preferred.
- Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical aptitude test, and background check.
