About the role#
Anclote Animal Hospital offers a flexible externship program for veterinary students. This program provides practical experience in a small animal practice to help you prepare for your career after graduation. You will work alongside our veterinary team to gain hands-on experience under the supervision of a mentor doctor. Rotations typically last two to three weeks, though they can range from two to eight weeks depending on your curriculum. You will work a schedule that includes days, evenings, and weekends. A stipend of $250 per week is provided.
What you'll do#
You will participate in all aspects of patient care, including:
- Gathering patient histories.
- Performing physical examinations.
- Developing diagnostic and therapeutic plans.
- Scrubbing in to surgery.
- Assisting in the management of medical cases.
- Providing wellness care.
- Developing client communication skills.
- Polishing technical skills.
- Producing medical records, such as SOAPs.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited DVM program.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Professional liability insurance.
- A submitted certificate of coverage.
Location & details#
This position is located in Tarpon Springs, Florida. It is an on-site, full-time role with a rolling application term.
