Ancestry is seeking a Data Science Co-op to join the AI Applied Science Content team. This role focuses on designing and implementing AI-native agentic systems to extract and organize information from historical and genealogical records. You will work on autonomous, multi-agent workflows capable of complex reasoning and self-correction to support our Family History business.
What you'll do#
- Implement AI solutions for Document Understanding tasks, including OCR/HTR, transcription, Named Entity Recognition, and Relation Extraction.
- Design and implement multi-agent workflows using frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, and CrewAI to automate complex reasoning tasks.
- Evaluate the performance of multi-modal models in zero-shot and few-shot learning scenarios.
- Establish frameworks for monitoring AI performance, including hallucination, drift, and bias detection.
- Collaborate with ML Ops and Data Science Engineers to deploy datasets and models within cloud environments.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an advanced degree (Master's or PhD preferred) in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Linguistics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- Specialization in AI and LLMs, with familiarity with foundational models such as GPT, Gemini, Qwen, Llama, and Claude.
- Strong proficiency in Python and relevant libraries, including transformer models, multi-modal models, and general NLP tools.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and AI/ML services, such as Google Cloud Platform or AWS (EC2, S3, SageMaker).
Location & details#
- This is a remote, paid, full-time co-op position.
- The role operates on a rolling basis.
