Engineering Design Management Intern

About the role#

The Engineering Design Management Intern role offers an introduction to the multi-discipline technical design review process for passenger railroad infrastructure. Based within the Capital Delivery Department, this position supports the review of both in-house capital projects and external third-party projects to ensure compliance with engineering standards, policies, and procedures.

What you'll do#

• Coordinate and participate in multi-discipline technical reviews of design documents.
• Collaborate with internal groups within Capital Delivery and Engineering Services.
• Collect and organize design review comments for return to third-party sponsors.
• Gain experience with Amtrak business systems, engineering practices, and industry standards for technical document review.
• Participate in short site visits to railroad rights-of-way or project locations as needed.

What you'll need#

• Active pursuit of an undergraduate degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
• Completion of at least two years of undergraduate academic studies.
• A cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.
• Strong written, oral, and organizational communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and maintain high attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with Revu Bluebeam is preferred.

• Term: Fall 2026 and Winter 2027.
• Modality: On-site.
• Compensation: $18.00 - $35.00 per hour, commensurate with school year and program of study.
