About the role#
Amor Animal Hospital offers a DVM externship program for students to gain practical experience in a small animal practice. This program supports your clinical education by providing hands-on training under the supervision of a mentor doctor. You will work alongside our veterinary team to refine your technical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Rotations typically last two to three weeks, though the program is flexible and can range from two to eight weeks to align with your college curriculum. You will receive a stipend of $250 per week.
What you'll do#
- Gather patient histories and perform physical examinations.
- Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans.
- Assist in the management of medical cases.
- Participate in all aspects of patient care, including surgery and wellness visits.
- Produce accurate medical records in the form of SOAPs.
- Practice client communication and technical skills within a clinical setting.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited DVM program.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Proof of professional liability insurance.
- Ability to work a schedule that includes days, evenings, and weekends.
