About the role#
Americans United for Separation of Church and State is hiring full-time legal interns for the summer of 2027. This role focuses on civil rights and impact litigation related to First Amendment protections. Interns gain experience with cases involving church-state separation in federal and state courts.
What you'll do#
- Conduct legal and factual research to support ongoing litigation.
- Analyze potential new litigation.
- Draft demand letters to resolve constitutional violations.
- Draft pleadings, briefs, and discovery documents.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in law school (any year).
- A commitment to advancing the public interest.
- A commitment to the separation of religion and government.
- Strong writing skills.
- The ability to conduct detailed legal and factual research.
Location & details#
- This is a paid internship with a stipend of $7,360 for a ten-week term.
- The position is full-time.
- This role is remote, with potential opportunities to work in the Washington, D.C. office.
