About the role#
AlphaX is building partnerships with water and wastewater utilities, apprenticeship sponsors, and training providers to expand career pathways into water-sector trades. We engage experienced practitioners for full-time employment and project-based contract roles. These engagements are remote-first with travel required for partner and field sites. This opportunity is contingent upon grant or sponsored-project award and final staffing approval.
What you'll do#
- Represent a utility, apprenticeship sponsor, labor partner, or training provider to co-deliver water-trades pathways.
- Define trainee cohorts, identify supervisors or mentors, and establish job-placement pathways into water and wastewater roles.
- Share program design inputs including hours, credentials, safety protocols, onboarding, and success metrics.
- Coordinate letters of support or MOU language for joint workforce proposals when mutually agreed.
- Advise on evaluation metrics for completion, placement, and retention.
What you'll need#
- Current role at a drinking water or wastewater utility, registered apprenticeship sponsor, labor organization, community college, technical school, or nonprofit training organization serving the water sector.
- Authority, or a clear path to authority, to discuss partnership or host-site arrangements.
- Experience running or supporting internships, apprenticeships, pre-apprenticeships, or bridge programs.
- Willingness to be considered for time-bounded collaboration, such as affiliate, consulting, or institutional partnership.
- Authorization to work with a U.S. research organization.
- Openness to full-time employment or project-based contract engagement.
- Ability to travel as partner and field work requires.
