As a Pharmacy Intern, you will play a critical role in patient care, medication safety, and clinical operations. This hands-on position allows you to work alongside experienced healthcare professionals to refine your clinical knowledge and develop essential pharmacy skills. You will contribute to medication reconciliation, compounding, and inventory management in a collaborative learning environment. This is an evergreen requisition used to identify pharmacy students for potential current or future opportunities within Allina Health outpatient and specialty pharmacy settings.
What you'll do#
- Prepare, check, and dispense medications.
- Compound and document extemporaneous doses, including prepackaging solid and liquid dosage forms.
- Perform medication distribution, including delivering supplies and restocking emergency kits.
- Conduct admission medication histories and perform medication reconciliation interviews with patients.
- Assist with inventory management, including auditing automated dispensing cabinets and checking incoming stock.
- Support clinical operations by reviewing patient profiles for clinical appropriateness and communicating recommendations to pharmacists.
What you'll need#
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Enrollment in an accredited school of pharmacy working toward a Pharmacist degree, or status as a foreign-trained pharmacist working toward state licensure.
- Pharmacy Intern Certification or Registration is required upon hire.
- If registered as a Pharmacy Technician upon hire, you must obtain Pharmacy Intern Certification within one year.
- Ability to perform light work, including lifting up to 20 lbs occasionally.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and DHS fingerprinting.
Location & details#
- Locations: Minneapolis, Coon Rapids, and Saint Paul, Minnesota.
- Schedule: Casual status with 8-hour day or evening shifts and a rotation involving every third weekend.
- Pay: Hourly rates vary by year of pharmacy school ($21.50 for 1st year, $22.50 for 2nd year, $23.50 for 3rd year, and $24.50 for 4th year).
- Work Modality: On-site.
