School Counselor Interns support the execution of a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with the ASCA National Model. This unpaid internship is designed for graduate-level students to complete the fieldwork hours required for their School Counseling degree. Interns work under the supervision of a credentialed School Counselor to provide data-driven, equitable, and developmentally appropriate support to scholars.
What you'll do#
- Support the execution of a comprehensive school counseling program to ensure scholars receive data-driven, equitable, and developmentally appropriate support.
- Develop professional practice while helping scholars become prepared for, admitted to, and successful through college.
- Implement activities to address scholar needs, consult and collaborate with school staff, and engage parents or guardians to support scholar success.
- Support the creation of Tier 1 and Tier 2 systems of support for scholars’ socioemotional development.
- Learn about and utilize district technology to inform and drive the counseling program.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master’s level school counseling program leading to a Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential.
- A commitment to the belief that all scholars, regardless of economic or social demographics, deserve a quality education and can earn a four-year college degree.
- Strong school counseling expertise to drive academic and personal development.
- Ability to thrive in an environment of high expectations and collaboration.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills with both children and adults.
