About the role#
School Counselor Interns support the execution of a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with the ASCA National Model. This internship provides graduate-level students with the opportunity to complete fieldwork hours while developing professional practice. Interns contribute to a data-driven, equitable, and developmentally appropriate environment to help scholars prepare for, gain admission to, and succeed in college.
What you'll do#
- Support the execution of a comprehensive school counseling program to ensure scholars receive equitable and developmentally appropriate support.
- Implement activities to address scholar needs, consult with school staff, and engage parents or guardians to support student success.
- Support the creation of Tier 1 and Tier 2 systems of support for socioemotional development.
- Learn to utilize district technology to inform and drive the counseling program.
- Collaborate with school staff to assist scholars with academic course scheduling, graduation status, and post-secondary planning.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master’s level school counseling program.
- Enrollment in a program leading to a Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential in School Counseling.
- Strong expertise in school counseling to drive academic and personal development.
- A firm belief that all scholars, regardless of economic or social demographics, deserve a quality education and can earn a four-year college degree.
- Ability to complete fieldwork hours required for a School Counseling degree.
