2026-27 School Counselor Intern (Unpaid)

About the role#

School Counselor Interns support the execution of a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with the ASCA National Model. This unpaid internship is designed for graduate-level students to complete the fieldwork hours required for their School Counseling degree. Interns work under the supervision of a credentialed School Counselor to provide data-driven, equitable, and developmentally appropriate support to scholars.

What you'll do#

• Support the execution of a comprehensive school counseling program to ensure scholars receive data-driven, equitable, and developmentally appropriate support.
• Develop professional practice while helping scholars become prepared for, admitted to, and successful through college.
• Implement activities to address scholar needs, consult and collaborate with school staff, and engage parents or guardians to support scholar success.
• Support the creation of Tier 1 and Tier 2 systems of support for scholars’ socioemotional development.
• Learn about and utilize district technology to inform and drive the counseling program.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a Master’s level school counseling program leading to a Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential.
• A commitment to the belief that all scholars, regardless of economic or social demographics, deserve a quality education and can earn a four-year college degree.
• Strong school counseling expertise to drive academic and personal development.
• Ability to thrive in an environment of high expectations and collaboration.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills with both children and adults.
