About the role#
The AEVEX Navigation and Autonomy Center develops algorithms for autonomous systems. We focus on navigation, controls, sensor fusion, and computer vision. You will join our team to work on research and development for robotics and autonomous navigation. You will apply your skills in algorithm design, machine learning, and embedded systems to help our platforms operate in complex and GPS-denied environments.
What you'll do#
- Develop and implement computer vision-based localization, SLAM, or deep learning models for UAS navigation.
- Integrate data from cameras, IMUs, GNSS, and other sources for sensor fusion.
- Optimize and deploy navigation and autonomy algorithms for embedded systems or edge computing hardware.
- Perform simulation and validation of algorithms using Python, C++, or Rust.
- Participate in flight test campaigns to validate software on UAS.
- Work with senior engineers on research and prototyping projects.
- Maintain regular, full-time attendance and exhibit professional behavior.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong programming skills in C, C++, Python, or Rust.
- Experience with ROS or ROS2.
- Demonstrated project or professional experience with computer vision, deep learning frameworks, autonomy planning, control systems, or sensor fusion techniques.
- Experience with embedded systems and real-time computing platforms like Jetson, Raspberry Pi, FPGA, or microcontrollers.
- Experience deploying software to robotic or hardware systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD clearance.
