The Technology and Analytics Department is seeking an Undergraduate Software Engineering Intern for the Educate Pod. This role focuses on the front-facing websites used for public education, advocacy, and engagement. You will work on high-impact projects that support the organization's mission to protect civil liberties.
What you'll do#
- Develop and maintain full-stack WordPress web properties alongside experienced engineers.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers on cross-functional projects.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to a culture of technical quality.
- Assist in creating and improving engineering documentation.
- Join conversations regarding engineering strategy and best practices.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate student or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience writing code in at least one high-level programming language, such as PHP or Python.
- Experience with front-end development tools and best practices.
- Experience working with a content management system like WordPress or Drupal.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- A passion for the defense of civil liberties.
- Ability to be based in the U.S. for the duration of the internship.
Location & details#
- Location: New York City (Remote or Hybrid options available).
- Term: Fall 2026 (10 consecutive weeks).
- Schedule: Full-time (35 hours per week).
- Start Dates: September 8th or September 21st.
- Compensation: $20/hr stipend.
- Requirements: This internship must be tied to a formal education program via integrated coursework or academic credit.
