    About the role#

    The Technology and Analytics Department is seeking an Undergraduate Software Engineering Intern for the Educate Pod. This role focuses on the front-facing websites used for public education, advocacy, and engagement. You will work on high-impact projects that support the organization's mission to protect civil liberties.

    What you'll do#

    • Develop and maintain full-stack WordPress web properties alongside experienced engineers.
    • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers on cross-functional projects.
    • Participate in code reviews and contribute to a culture of technical quality.
    • Assist in creating and improving engineering documentation.
    • Join conversations regarding engineering strategy and best practices.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment as an undergraduate student or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Experience writing code in at least one high-level programming language, such as PHP or Python.
    • Experience with front-end development tools and best practices.
    • Experience working with a content management system like WordPress or Drupal.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
    • A passion for the defense of civil liberties.
    • Ability to be based in the U.S. for the duration of the internship.

    Location & details#

    • Location: New York City (Remote or Hybrid options available).
    • Term: Fall 2026 (10 consecutive weeks).
    • Schedule: Full-time (35 hours per week).
    • Start Dates: September 8th or September 21st.
    • Compensation: $20/hr stipend.
    • Requirements: This internship must be tied to a formal education program via integrated coursework or academic credit.
