The Nationwide Prospect Development and Portfolio Strategy (NPSPD) unit is seeking an undergraduate intern for the Fall 2026 term. This role provides an opportunity to learn about fundraising operations, prospect identification, and portfolio management within a large civil rights organization. Interns will report to the Associate Director of Prospect Development and work on projects that support major gifts fundraising.
What you'll do#
- Conduct research to evaluate donor capacity and inclination for major gifts.
- Assist with prospect identification through internal and external reviews, including upgrade reports and vendor screening data.
- Learn to utilize enterprise-wide fundraising tools, data analytics, and resources for prospect segmentation.
- Make recommendations for assigning prospects to national and affiliate portfolios.
- Perform administrative tasks such as Salesforce CRM data entry, business intelligence reporting, and writing event bios.
- Assist with vendor screening data uploads and general department projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate student or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Interest in a career in nonprofit development, specifically prospect development.
- Interest in exploring community-centric fundraising (CCF) principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to advancing the mission of the ACLU and working collaboratively within a diverse environment.
Location & details#
- Location: Remote or hybrid (New York City).
- Term: Fall 2026 (12 consecutive weeks).
- Schedule: Part-time (20 hours per week).
- Start Dates: September 8th or September 21st.
- Compensation: $20/hour stipend.
- Requirements: Must be based in the U.S. for the duration of the internship. This position must be tied to a formal education program via integrated coursework or academic credit.
