The ACLU is seeking an undergraduate intern to support the Leadership and Planned Gifts and Corporate Engagement teams within the Development Department. This role offers exposure to the department's broader operations, including donor relationship building and organizational partnerships. This is a paid, part-time internship requiring 10, 15, or 20 hours per week over a 12-week period.
What you'll do#
- Learn about the operations of the Leadership and Planned Gifts and Corporate Engagement teams through meetings and individual assignments.
- Perform data analysis for donors and prospects and assist with database management, including digitizing archives.
- Conduct basic prospect research on individuals and businesses with a history of supporting civil rights work.
- Monitor current events and curate resources for portfolio managers.
- Assist with donor education, cultivation, and stewardship events, including small group gatherings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate student or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Interest in a career in development, specifically in prospect research or major gifts fundraising.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- A commitment to civil liberties, social justice, and the mission of the ACLU.
- A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Valid work authorization to receive a stipend.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, NY (Hybrid).
- Term: Fall 2026 (Starts September 08 or September 21).
- Compensation: $20/hour stipend for eligible students.
- Requirements: This internship must be tied to the intern's formal education program through integrated coursework or academic credit.
