Intern (Sunbelt Controls)

About the role#

This internship at Sunbelt Controls offers the opportunity to work within the Engineering Group, supporting design engineers with daily operations and project tasks. Interns will participate in an engineering development program, learning control applications theory and gaining experience with engineering design tools. This role involves both office-based design work and potential field commissioning activities.

What you'll do#

• Assist design engineers with specific project tasks and general engineering functions.
• Perform basic program and graphics modifications and hardware application designs.
• Participate in project closeout activities, including the preparation of as-built control diagrams and operation and maintenance manuals.
• Track project checkout documentation and as-built conditions.
• Communicate with project team members regarding technical issues, obstacles, and field information needs.
• Attend and complete OSHA 10 safety training.
• Participate in ongoing development programs alongside other entry-level engineers.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in an accredited university engineering program, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, or 2-5 years of related work experience in the building automation systems industry.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and any relevant technical school training.
• Working knowledge of Windows, file structures, and MS Office; experience with MS Visio is preferred.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage responsibilities in a high-paced environment.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs occasionally.
