About the role#
The Accounting Intern supports the finance team with daily operations while gaining experience in nonprofit financial management. You will report directly to the Accounting Manager and help maintain accurate records to support compliance and reporting. This role is based in a professional office environment.
What you'll do#
- Support month-end and year-end close activities, including preparing schedules and documentation.
- Perform bank, account, and receivable reconciliations.
- Assist with data entry, research, and recording financial transactions.
- Maintain and organize financial files and audit support materials.
- Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks, including scanning and filing.
- Uphold the mission, values, and vision of the organization and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an associate or bachelor degree program for accounting, finance, or business administration.
- Completion of intermediate accounting coursework.
- A basic understanding of GAAP, nonprofit accounting concepts, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Familiarity with Sage accounting software is a plus.
- Previous office, volunteer, or leadership experience is preferred.

- Location: Southfield, Michigan.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Part-time, Monday through Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
- Type: Paid, non-exempt hourly position.
