Duolingo posts its internships on the Duolingo careers site, and Intern Insider tracks them alongside other technology employers.
What Duolingo offers interns#
Duolingo is a language-learning company headquartered in Pittsburgh. Its Duolingo Thrive Program is a 10-week summer internship for rising juniors, and Duolingo reports that most Thrive interns since the program launched in 2021 have gone on to join the company full time. Duolingo also posts other internship roles on its careers site. Requirements differ by role, so read each posting closely.
The interview process Duolingo describes#
Duolingo publishes its typical process on its careers site: an application review, a recruiter conversation, a conversation with the hiring team, a role-specific technical assessment (a live coding exercise, a take-home task or a presentation), and a virtual onsite of one-to-one interviews.
For engineering roles, Duolingo's engineering interview guide says university and new-graduate candidates complete an online coding task and a whiteboard interview conducted in pseudocode. Design candidates can read the product design interview guide, which describes a portfolio presentation and a live design critique in Figma.
How to prepare#
Update your resume and portfolio, and apply to the role that matches your experience most closely.
Practice common data structures and be ready to explain the time complexity of your approach, as the engineering guide recommends.
Prepare specific examples of work you have done, and questions about the team you are interviewing with.
Read Duolingo's operating principles before the onsite interviews, as the careers site suggests.
