This 12-month engineering co-op position is based at the Westlake Pipe & Fittings manufacturing plant in Woodbridge, Ontario. The role provides exposure to all aspects of process engineering and plant operations, allowing students to contribute to design and operational improvement projects. This is a full-time, paid position with a schedule of 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with plant superintendents, the operations manager, and the process engineer on design and improvement projects.
- Create and refine plant processes to support proactive decision-making.
- Perform data analysis to evaluate past performance and future projections.
- Lead cross-functional teams for continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in the company safety culture, including conducting gap analyses and introducing equipment for hazard elimination.
- Liaise with new product development and material science teams to support launches.
- Participate in the creation and approval of standard operating procedures.
- Interact with vendors for part design and reliability improvements, and source suppliers to optimize costs.
- Utilize new technologies to support plant modernization.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in at least the 2nd year of an accredited Engineering program (Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, or Industrial).
- Programming and AutoCAD experience is preferred.
- Submission of a transcript with your resume is required.
