As a Field Operations Manager for Via Student Transit, you will lead daily operations to ensure reliable transportation services. This is a high-ownership, onsite role based in Milwaukee, where you will manage real-time challenges and work to elevate the experience for students, school districts, and drivers.
What you'll do#
- Run daily onsite operations to ensure safe, reliable, and accessible transportation for riders.
- Make informed, real-time decisions regarding driver supply, compliance, and unexpected service issues.
- Guide and support drivers by building strong relationships and addressing their concerns.
- Implement operational improvements by analyzing student and district feedback to identify patterns.
- Act as a key operational bridge between school partners, drivers, and internal teams to support market growth.
- Use data and technology to diagnose performance problems and implement efficiency solutions.
What you'll need#
- Operational experience in people management, logistics, or customer service.
- A hands-on, proactive approach with a preference for field-based problem solving.
- Tactical problem-solving skills with the ability to implement long-term solutions.
- A commitment to the mission of student transportation and its impact on education.
- Strong relationship-building skills to earn trust with drivers and school partners.
- Educational background in Business Administration, Logistics, Human Resources, Operations Management, or Psychology.
Location & details#
- Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
- Modality: Fully in-person, with an expectation to be onsite 4-5 days per week.
- Employment: Full-time position.
- Compensation: $60,000 - $70,000 per year, plus benefits including medical plans and 401K matching.
