The Communications & Marketing Intern will support the planning, promotion, and delivery of communications activities, events, and community initiatives for the Fall 2026 term. Working closely with the communications team, the intern will contribute to projects that celebrate Indigenous entrepreneurship, education, and community impact. This role offers hands-on experience in digital marketing, storytelling, and event coordination within an Indigenous-led organization.
What you'll do#
- Support the planning and coordination of events, workshops, and outreach activities, including logistics, registration, and on-site setup.
- Create content for social media, websites, newsletters, and promotional materials.
- Assist with photography and video activities during programs and events.
- Conduct research to support communications, sponsorship, and engagement initiatives.
- Maintain digital files, project resources, communication calendars, and content schedules.
- Draft various communications, including articles, profiles, and event materials.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a recognized post-secondary co-operative education program related to Communications, Marketing, Public Health, Business Administration, Journalism, Industrial Design, or Industrial Engineering.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A creative and organized approach to managing tasks and priorities.
- A passion for supporting Indigenous communities and sharing meaningful stories.
- Comfort with learning new digital tools and platforms.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Location & details#
- Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia.
- Modality: Hybrid/remote with some in-person meetings and activities; occasional travel within Nova Scotia may be required.
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Employment: Full-time, paid internship.
- Note: Some evening or weekend availability may be required for events. Candidates must be eligible for the Nova Scotia Co-operative Education Incentive (CEI) Program.
