Mechanical Engineering Intern (Fall Semester)

About the role#

The Mechanical Engineering Intern will support laboratory staff in improving the quality and customer satisfaction of private branded retail products. This role focuses on ensuring that manufactured products meet specifications, regulatory requirements, and internal quality standards. The intern will assist in monitoring process controls and continuous improvement plans throughout the supply chain.

What you'll do#

• Resolve quality issues by identifying problems, examining solutions, and providing feedback regarding capability, tolerancing, and material handling.
• Assist in the development of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), control plans, and measurement system analysis.
• Analyze and interpret assessment, test, and inspection results to determine the root cause of failures and promote best practices.
• Develop and validate test and inspection plans based on industry trends and historical performance data.
• Conduct data validation, statistical analyses, and data mapping to support reporting services.
• Communicate quality improvement efforts to stakeholders and support the resolution of supply chain issues.
• Utilize hand tools and measuring equipment as required.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment as a Junior or Senior in an ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology program.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to interface professionally with clients.
• Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
