TPG is seeking a Climate Impact Research Assistant to join Y Analytics, the firm's dedicated team for understanding and improving the social and environmental impact of capital. This role supports the research and analysis of impact across existing and potential investments. The Research Assistant will contribute to impact assessments for climate-related deals and assist in the development of impact assessment methodologies. While the primary focus is on climate and energy transition, there will be opportunities to analyze investments in health and social sectors.
What you'll do#
- Conduct impact analysis on live deals and perform in-depth reviews of academic research.
- Contribute to impact assessments for climate-related investments.
- Support the ongoing development and refinement of impact assessment methodologies.
- Analyze investments within health and social impact spaces.
- Research emerging industries and technologies to support investment decisions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a graduate student or an advanced undergraduate entering their final year of study in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sustainability, Business, Economics, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience and interest in climate and energy transition thematic areas, such as clean energy, decarbonized transport, or sustainable agriculture.
- Proven experience conducting, interpreting, or synthesizing quantitative climate research, such as lifecycle assessments or sector decarbonization scenarios.
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Experience with academic research, literature reviews, or non-climate economic research is considered an asset, as is interest in health and social-related impact areas.
Location & details#
- Term: Fall 2026 (Late August through mid-December).
- Work Modality: Remote. Candidates must be located in one of the following states: AZ, CA, DC, FL, GA, IL, NJ, NY, TN, TX, VA, WI, AR, CO, IN, KY, LA, MA, MI, MN, MO, NE, NH, NC, OH, PA, SC, UT, WA, or WY.
- Commitment: Part-time, 20 hours per week.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship at $20/hour.
