AI Intern

About the role#

SWBC is seeking an AI Intern to join the College Intern Program in San Antonio, Texas. This role focuses on the design, development, and operationalization of Generative AI and machine learning solutions. Interns will work on building AI-powered applications, contributing to MLOps workflows, and assisting with the deployment and monitoring of models within an AWS environment. This is a full-time, paid position.

What you'll do#

• Build AI-enabled applications and prototypes using generative AI and ML capabilities, including retrieval-augmented generation, summarization, and classification.
• Assist with MLOps pipelines, covering data and model versioning, training workflows, evaluation, packaging, and deployment processes.
• Support the deployment and operations of models and services on AWS, including environment setup, CI/CD integration, and operational readiness.
• Develop and maintain Python components, such as APIs, inference services, evaluation scripts, and necessary tooling.
• Collaborate with engineers and product stakeholders to translate business requirements into deliverable AI features.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field (undergraduate or graduate students are welcome).
• Hands-on experience with Python and foundational ML/GenAI concepts, such as embeddings, transformer concepts, and evaluation basics.
• Familiarity with at least one of the following: AWS (S3, IAM, Lambda, EC2, CloudWatch, ECR, SageMaker, Jupyter notebooks), basic API development (Flask/FastAPI), or Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Exposure to MLOps tools and practices, including CI/CD, model registries, experiment tracking, and monitoring.
• Experience with LLM application patterns, such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), prompt engineering, prompt evaluation, and guardrails.
