AI Intern

About the role#

SWBC is seeking an AI Intern to support the design, development, and operationalization of Generative AI and machine learning solutions. This internship focuses on building AI-powered applications, contributing to MLOps workflows, and deploying models in an AWS environment. Interns will work alongside professionals in the financial services industry on projects designed to be impactful and meaningful.

What you'll do#

• Build AI-enabled applications and prototypes leveraging generative AI and ML capabilities, such as retrieval-augmented generation, summarization, and classification.
• Assist with MLOps pipelines, including data and model versioning, training workflows, evaluation, packaging, and deployment.
• Support the deployment and operations of models and services on AWS, including environment setup, CI/CD integration, and operational readiness.
• Develop and maintain Python components, including APIs, inference services, evaluation scripts, and tooling.
• Participate in model testing and evaluation, including prompt experiments, performance benchmarking, and quality monitoring.
• Document designs and experiments while collaborating with engineers and stakeholders to translate requirements into AI features.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a degree program for Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, with an expected graduation date of December 2026 or later.
• Hands-on experience with Python and foundational ML/GenAI concepts like embeddings, transformer concepts, and evaluation basics.
• Familiarity with at least one of the following: AWS services (S3, IAM, Lambda, EC2, CloudWatch, ECR, SageMaker, Jupyter notebooks), basic API development (Flask/FastAPI), or Git and collaborative workflows.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment.
• Understanding of software engineering fundamentals, such as unit tests, code reviews, and documentation.
