    About the role#

    As a Merchandiser Cashier and Admissions Clerk at Upper Canada Village, you will serve as a representative for one of the region's internationally recognized tourism sites. This role involves rotating through various positions, including working at the Village Store and Cafe, as well as serving as a greeter and admissions clerk at the front gate.

    What you'll do#

    • Provide excellent customer service to visitors in both English and French by greeting them and sharing information about the site and daily activities.
    • Operate a cash register, handle cash, process credit and debit transactions, manage refunds, calculate foreign exchange, and complete required paperwork.
    • Perform admission sales, issue tickets, and conduct visitor surveys.
    • Assist the photographer by helping guests dress in period costumes.
    • Follow all safety protocols and report any unsafe conditions to your supervisor immediately.
    • Uphold principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion during all interactions with staff and guests.

    What you'll need#

    • Proficiency in both English and French is required.
    • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
    • Capacity to adapt to different situations and maintain performance under pressure in a busy setting.
    • Good judgment when answering public inquiries, combined with the ability to entertain guests and upsell products.
    • Strong problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to learn and maintain safety procedures to ensure the well-being of guests and staff.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Upper Canada Village, South Dundas, Ontario.
    • Employment Period: Summer 2026 (May to September).
    • Hours: Variable, up to 36.25 hours per week.
    • Compensation: $17.60 per hour.
    • Priority consideration will be given to applications received by February 27, 2026, though applications will continue to be accepted after this date.
