Spire is seeking a Construction Engineering Intern for the Summer 2026 term. This paid, full-time position provides students with real-world experience within the natural gas industry by assisting with engineering assignments and administrative operations.
What you'll do#
- Assist with correspondence between Construction, Leak & Maintenance, External Affairs, and civic inspectors regarding project status.
- Coordinate with external entities, including municipalities, engineering firms, and developers, to manage company facility improvements.
- Prepare documentation for gas main and service work, including utility agreements.
- Attend utility and pre-construction meetings to negotiate with external representatives to minimize the impact of proposed improvements on existing facilities.
- Review design and cost estimates for main and service work, evaluate delivery pressures, and research legacy asset information to reconcile records.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate rising junior, senior, or graduate student in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, or Industrial Engineering.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work 35-40 hours per week throughout the summer.
