Law Clerk ASPIRE Graduate Intern

About the role#

The Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) Office of General Counsel (OGC) is seeking a law student who has successfully completed their second year of law school for a summer 2027 internship. As a Law Clerk, you will support experienced attorneys across diverse practice areas, including litigation, business transactions, environmental health and safety, government contracts, intellectual property, and employment law. You will be assigned a mentor to assist with your integration into the program and have opportunities to engage with the General Counsel and Associate General Counsels.

What you'll do#

• Research and draft legal memoranda and other documents, including compiling, summarizing, and analyzing factual material.
• Conduct legal research to identify relevant rules, regulations, and case law.
• Meet with SRNL representatives to gather information supporting the provision of legal advice and to learn about laboratory operations.
• Prepare and present materials on legal and factual issues for varied audiences.
• Handle general law assignments as directed.

What you'll need#

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must be enrolled in law school at the time of application and have completed a BS or BA degree.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA with strong legal research and writing skills.
• Experience writing memoranda documenting legal and factual research and analysis.
• Experience interpreting and applying state and federal laws, regulations, court rules, and procedures.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and resolve conflicting priorities.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and outside entities.
• Preferred: Experience working successfully as part of a team and an interest in learning about unfamiliar areas of law.

• Location: Aiken, South Carolina.
• Term: Summer 2027 (up to 12 weeks).
• Work Modality: On-site.
• Status: Full-time, paid internship.
• Requirements: Selected candidates must pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test and background check. No security clearance is required.
