Respiratory Therapist Student

About the role#

The Respiratory Therapist Student position provides a clinical learning experience designed to build confidence and competence in respiratory care. Students work under the supervision of a licensed preceptor to develop skills and explore areas of practice that align with their professional goals. This role is intended to facilitate a smooth transition into a licensed position following graduation.

What you'll do#

Under the supervision of a preceptor, you will perform routine respiratory duties, including:

• Administering nebulizer and MDI treatments.
• Drawing arterial blood gases.
• Setting up patients on invasive and noninvasive ventilation, including ventilators, CPAP, and BiPAP.
• Providing instruction on incentive spirometers.
• Performing chest physiotherapy using Metaneb, Aerobika, vest machines, or manual CPT.
• Suctioning tracheostomy patients and those on ventilators.
• Assisting with intubations and CPR.
• Listening to breath sounds.
• Assisting in the development of patient respiratory treatment plans.
• Performing tracheostomy care and cleaning or setting up respiratory equipment.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a respiratory therapy or polysomnography technology education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (or another nationally recognized accrediting organization).
• The ability to perform routine duties accurately and efficiently under supervision.
• The ability to assist with intubation and other respiratory procedures under supervision.

• Location: Weston, Wisconsin.
• Schedule: Rolling, with flexible hours to accommodate student schedules.
• Work Modality: On-site.
• Compensation: $15.00 - $23.00 per hour.
