As a Pharmacy Intern at Samaritan Healthcare, you will work under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist to interpret and provide prescribed medications, IVs, and other pharmaceuticals. You will assist in monitoring medication therapy, participate in quality improvement processes, and collaborate with physicians and pharmacy staff to ensure accurate medication delivery according to professional standards and legal requirements.
What you'll do#
- Interpret, compound, transcribe, and label medication orders accurately and in a timely manner.
- Prepare IV admixtures using appropriate aseptic techniques, calculations, and documentation.
- Pre-pack medications and package unit dose medications with accurate labeling.
- Complete daily patient billing charges and credits for inpatients, outpatients, and hospital departments.
- Provide education to patients and their family members regarding medication use.
- Maintain inventory levels, manage controlled substance records, and fill unit dose carts.
- Monitor medication therapy and report adverse reactions or errors.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment and satisfactory progress in a Bachelor of Science or Doctor of Pharmacy program from an accredited School of Pharmacy.
- A current Washington State Pharmacist Intern license in good standing.
- Knowledge of unit-dose distribution systems and IV admixture programs.
- Experience with pharmacy computer systems is preferred.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 25 lbs, standing for 8 to 12 hours, and frequent bending or reaching.
