Maintenance Worker Internship

About the role#

This internship involves performing skilled work in the operation, maintenance, repair, and remodeling of hospital buildings and related equipment. Working under the direction of the Maintenance Worker II and the Plant Services Supervisor, you will contribute to the daily upkeep of the facility to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.

What you'll do#

• Maintain electrical systems, including breakers, panels, and lighting fixtures.
• Perform carpentry tasks such as repairing doors, windows, and locks.
• Repair and maintain plumbing systems, including drains and fixtures.
• Operate and maintain HVAC, electrical boilers, and pneumatic or hydraulic equipment.
• Follow Preventative Maintenance programs and maintain accurate documentation for work orders.
• Ensure all tasks are completed in compliance with safety practices, infection control, and organizational policies.

What you'll need#

• High school diploma or GED.
• Current enrollment as a 1st-year MPT student at BBCC (transitioning to 2nd year by Fall quarter) or a current 2nd-year MPT student.
• Familiarity with building maintenance techniques, equipment, and electrical or mechanical systems.
• Ability to work 16-20 hours per week.
• Capability to perform physical tasks including frequent walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting.

• Schedule: Part-time, 16-20 hours per week.
