This internship offers the opportunity to work alongside subject matter experts in a team-based environment. You will focus on state and local taxation, identifying tax savings opportunities for Fortune 500 and 1,000 clients. Interns receive training and professional development to build expertise in tax services.
What you'll do#
- Provide client service to multi-state companies to identify tax savings opportunities.
- Assist with state and local tax controversies, including preparing clients for auditor discussions, representing clients at hearings and appeal meetings, and preparing protests.
- Research and draft technical memoranda regarding state and local tax issues.
- Respond to inquiries from clients and tax authorities.
- Review documentation, research specific issues, and work with raw data to complete detailed calculations.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, or Economics.
- Graduation date anticipated within one year of the internship.
- Minimum overall and major GPA of 2.8.
- Completion of 6 – 12 Accounting hours, depending on the specific practice.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and attention to detail skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple assignments, and work both independently and as part of a team.
- A valid driver's license.
