This internship offers the opportunity to work alongside subject matter experts in a team-based environment. You will assist multi-state companies in identifying tax savings opportunities and navigating state and local tax controversies. This role is designed to provide training and development for those interested in pursuing a career in state, local, federal, and international taxation.
What you'll do#
- Identify tax savings opportunities for multi-state clients.
- Assist with tax controversies by preparing clients for auditor discussions, representing them at hearings and appeal meetings, and drafting protests.
- Research and draft technical memoranda regarding state and local tax issues.
- Respond to inquiries from clients and tax authorities.
- Review documentation and perform research on specific tax issues.
- Work with raw data to complete detailed calculations.
What you'll need#
- Working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, or Economics.
- Anticipated graduation date within one year of the internship.
- Minimum overall and major GPA of 2.8.
- Completion of 6 – 12 Accounting hours, depending on the practice.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple assignments, and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license.
