    About the role#

    As an Embedded Software Engineer Intern, you will work with our engineering team on the real-time firmware that drives our power conversion units. You will gain hands-on experience at the intersection of silicon and power by writing and testing low-level code that controls high-speed switching, manages thermal safety, and communicates with battery packs and site infrastructure. This role offers mentorship while you apply your academic knowledge to embedded systems that ship at scale.

    What you'll do#

    • Support the design and implementation of bare-metal software for power electronics.
    • Assist in developing and testing drivers for microcontroller peripherals.
    • Work with power electronics controls engineers to translate controls theory into embedded code.
    • Gain exposure to how power conversion firmware interfaces with real battery packs.
    • Maintain software build scripts and write testable code.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
    • Coursework or project experience in C, C++, or Rust.
    • Exposure to embedded systems, microcontrollers, or digital logic through coursework, personal projects, or prior internships.
    • Familiarity with concepts like SPI, I2C, UART, or CAN is a plus.
    • A safety-conscious mindset, strong attention to detail, and an eagerness to learn.
