About the role#
QuEra Computing Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Co-Op to contribute to the design, development, and testing of neutral atom quantum computers. You will work alongside engineers and physicists to support the mechanical systems of these machines, focusing on design for manufacturing and assembly.
What you'll do#
- Identify technical issues during testing and development, recommend solutions, and implement fixes.
- Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
- Design, specify, and procure prototypes while assisting with product validation.
- Inspect, assemble, and install quantum computer modules.
- Support the creation of technical documentation, including design specifications, assembly instructions, and test reports.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors for the procurement and assembly of parts and enclosures.
- Perform general technical tasks including wiring, cleaning, and incoming part inspections.
What you'll need#
- Progress toward a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Prior internship or Co-Op experience in mechanical engineering is preferred.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software, specifically Autodesk Inventor, and experience with PDM software such as Autodesk Vault.
- Understanding of mechanical design principles, material properties, and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with product lifecycle management and configuration management workflows.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary teams.

- This position is based on-site in Boston, Massachusetts.
- The role is full-time with a rolling term.
