The Iowa Electoral Intern works with the Public Affairs team to build and activate networks of supporters. This role focuses on executing electoral and grassroots organizing field plans for assigned regions and districts to support candidates endorsed by Planned Parenthood Advocates of Iowa. This is a paid, part-time position requiring 20 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Execute electoral and grassroots organizing field plans.
- Engage in voter contact methods including phone banking, door-to-door canvassing, postcard-writing, and relational organizing.
- Recruit, train, and mobilize volunteers, helping them progress through leadership levels.
- Maintain accurate records to ensure all data and reporting requirements are met.
What you'll need#
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years of experience in organizing, volunteering, or the non-profit sector.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and mobilize volunteers.
- Strong communication skills.
- Willingness to work variable hours, including some mornings, evenings, and weekends.

- Location: 818 5th Ave, Suite 200, Des Moines, IA.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Part-time (20 hours per week) with variable shifts.
- Travel: In-state travel is required, including occasional overnight weekend travel.
