Development Intern

About the role#

The Development Intern supports the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s fundraising activities, donor relations, and administrative functions. This position provides hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising within the performing arts sector and exposure to institutional advancement. The intern reports to the Manager of Individual Support.

What you'll do#

• Support the Individuals fundraising team with Tessitura database management and donor stewardship and communication.
• Assist department Managers and Directors with various projects.
• Maintain and update donor account records in Tessitura.
• Provide onsite event support for donor benefit events.
• Assist in donor and prospect research projects.
• Support VIP experiences for major donors as needed.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program, preferably in nonprofit management, arts administration, communications, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
• Professional demeanor and the ability to interact effectively with Symphony patrons.
• Knowledge of databases is preferred but not required.
