The Development Intern supports the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s fundraising activities, donor relations, and administrative functions. This position provides hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising within the performing arts sector and exposure to institutional advancement. The intern reports to the Manager of Individual Support.
What you'll do#
- Support the Individuals fundraising team with Tessitura database management and donor stewardship and communication.
- Assist department Managers and Directors with various projects.
- Maintain and update donor account records in Tessitura.
- Provide onsite event support for donor benefit events.
- Assist in donor and prospect research projects.
- Support VIP experiences for major donors as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program, preferably in nonprofit management, arts administration, communications, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
- Professional demeanor and the ability to interact effectively with Symphony patrons.
- Knowledge of databases is preferred but not required.
