The Pima County Health Department is seeking a Strategic Initiatives Graduate Intern to support department-wide performance improvement, workforce development, and public health accreditation efforts. This grant-funded position reports to the Strategic Initiatives Program Manager and focuses on operational strategy and internal training support.
What you'll do#
- Lead the implementation and monitoring of the department’s strategic plan.
- Track project progress and prepare reports and presentations for community events, conferences, and internal meetings.
- Assess employee desk procedures to enhance the department’s learning environment.
- Support employee professional growth through the development and coordination of training programs aligned with national public health standards.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a graduate degree program in Public Health, Health Policy, Epidemiology, or a related field.
- A bachelor's degree from a four-year institution.
- A minimum of one year of experience in paraprofessional or professional administration.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Preferred: A bachelor's degree in public health, management, or business administration, as well as experience in strategic planning, facilitating group meetings, and building multi-disciplinary partnerships.

- Location: Tucson, Arizona.
- Term: Summer 2026 through October 2027.
- Modality: On-site.
- Commitment: Part-time (20–30 hours per week).
- Compensation: Paid position at $18.00 per hour.
