About the role#
Pepper Construction Group is seeking students for a paid, full-time Construction Project Management internship during the Summer of 2027. This 12-week program, running from Memorial Day to mid-August, offers exposure to both field and office operations within the Chicagoland area. Interns work alongside a Project Manager or Superintendent to gain practical experience in general contracting.
What you'll do#
- Process submittals and perform take-offs.
- Potentially prepare project budgets.
- Attend job site and owner meetings.
- Participate in training sessions, jobsite tours, and safety programs.
- Engage in an intern project competition that simulates the bidding and project acquisition process.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration, Marketing, or Industrial Engineering.
- Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new technology quickly.
- Ability to multitask while maintaining focus on project details.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Confidence to work independently while maintaining a collaborative team approach.
- Reliable self-transportation for daily travel to work-related activities.
Location & details#
- Location: Des Plaines, Illinois, with the requirement to work in the Chicagoland area, including far north and south suburbs.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $20 to $24 per hour, based on graduation year.
