College Intern - Children's Village

About the role#

This internship at Children's Village offers an opportunity to gain professional experience within local government. Interns work alongside experienced staff to support departmental operations, contribute to special projects, and assist in the delivery of essential public services. This role is designed for students seeking to build skills in research, analysis, and public sector administration.

What you'll do#

• Conduct research, compile data, and perform basic statistical calculations to support decision-making.
• Assist in preparing written reports, presentations, and other professional documentation.
• Conduct interviews with clients, employees, or community members to gather information.
• Utilize department-specific software and Countywide systems to manage projects and maintain records.
• Accompany professional staff on assignments to observe processes and contribute to project work.
• Communicate with other County departments and outside agencies to exchange information.
• Travel to County facilities or off-site locations as needed to support departmental operations.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an accredited college or university as a freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student.
• Academic focus in fields such as Public Health, Psychology, Political Science, Sociology, or Human Resources.
• Knowledge of program analysis, evaluation, research methods, and statistics.
• Ability to plan and complete assignments within established deadlines.
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, database, and email software.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

• Note: Candidates assigned to Children’s Village must provide documentation from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services confirming they have not been named in a central registry case for child abuse or neglect. A criminal history check is also required.
