About the role#
The Optical Test Lab Engineer Coop manages and maintains a functional test lab to support product development, customer trials, and sales initiatives for optical transport equipment. This role ensures the lab remains well-equipped and operational while facilitating smooth collaboration between engineering teams, marketing staff, and visiting customers.
What you'll do#
- Install, configure, and test optical transport equipment based on established test plans.
- Execute test plans in collaboration with engineering and marketing teams.
- Demonstrate equipment performance to customers and address technical inquiries.
- Maintain lab policies and quality control standards to ensure testing precision and accuracy.
- Document all lab activities, test results, and equipment configurations.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and perform necessary equipment maintenance.
- Manage lab logistics, including equipment ordering and shipping.
- Ensure the lab environment adheres to all health and safety regulations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of optical transport technologies and equipment.
- Proficiency in using lab equipment and test instrumentation.
- Familiarity with industry-standard lab practices and protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
Location & details#
- Location: On-site in Richardson, Texas.
- Duration: 12 months, from September 2026 through August 2027.
- Status: Full-time paid position.
