About the role#
NJM Insurance Group is seeking a law clerk for the General Claims legal team. This role is based at the West Trenton, New Jersey headquarters and provides an opportunity for a second-year law student to gain experience in litigation and insurance business operations. The position is a full-time, paid internship scheduled for an eight-week duration beginning in the first week of June.
What you'll do#
- Conduct legal research and draft legal memoranda.
- Maintain the General Claims Legal Index, which serves as a multi-state resource for property and casualty insurance issues.
- Support staff attorneys with various legal tasks and projects.
What you'll need#
- Completion of the second year of law school by the summer.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA in undergraduate studies.
- Knowledge of insurance coverage and tort law.
- Excellent research, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and work in a self-directed manner.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
- Previous legal work experience is considered a plus.
