Fall Intern - Individual Giving & Major Gifts

About the role#

The Individual Giving & Major Gifts Department at New York City Ballet is seeking an intern to gain practical experience in development, patron relations, database management, and research. Working under the mentorship of the Development team, this role supports major and directed giving efforts, planned giving operations, and the Young Patrons Circle. This is a paid internship offering $19.00 per hour.

What you'll do#

• Assist with the preparation and mailing of solicitation and acknowledgment materials.
• Correspond with patrons to support annual giving renewals and manage event RSVPs.
• Support the administration of major giving financial reconciliation.
• Update and maintain the Tessitura database to improve reporting, organization, and tracking of performance and event attendance.
• Collaborate on email campaigns for donor acquisitions and renewals.
• Edit and proofread copy for acquisition appeals, renewal letters, and Playbill.
• Track crediting for ballet underwriters and conduct research on leading prospects.
• Provide general administrative support and staff various interdepartmental, cultivation, and stewardship events.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program, or graduation from such a program within the past 12 months.
• Professional demeanor with high attention to detail.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and problem-solve.
• Strong interest in Development and Arts Administration.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) is a plus.
• Knowledge of New York City Ballet is a plus.

Location & details#

• Location: New York, New York, with work performed on-site at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center and remotely.
• Term: Fall 2026 (September through December).
• Commitment: Approximately 15 hours per week with a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends as required.
• Modality: Hybrid.
• Academic credit is available for this position.
