Pharmacy Student Intern (Casual/PRN)

About the role#

Nemours Children's Health is seeking a Pharmacy Student Intern to support the Inpatient and Outpatient Pharmacy Department at the Nemours Alfred I DuPont Hospital for Children. This is a year-round, paid internship program offering exposure to clinical pharmacy operations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.

What you'll do#

Interns assist in the preparation, dispensing, and distribution of medications while ensuring high standards of accuracy and safety. Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing sterile and non-sterile medications, including IVs, TPN, and hazardous compounds, in compliance with USP 797 and USP 800 guidelines.
• Managing drug distribution tasks such as cart fills, Pyxis functionality, unit dose packaging, and outpatient prescription processing.
• Maintaining inventory, performing unit inspections, and managing code cart processes.
• Ensuring all prepared medications are verified by a pharmacist prior to dispensing and meet strict turnaround time requirements.
• Providing customer service to internal and external stakeholders and managing medication delivery.

What you'll need#

• High School Diploma.
• Current enrollment and good standing status at an accredited school of pharmacy.
• Ability to obtain a Delaware Pharmacy Intern License within 90 days of hire.
• Hospital experience is preferred.

Location & details#

• Location: Wilmington, Delaware.
• Modality: On-site.
• Schedule: During the school year, interns work every third weekend (Saturday and Sunday). During winter and summer breaks, interns work 2-3 shifts per week. Shifts are 8.5 hours long, typically starting between 7:00 am and 2:30 pm. Interns are required to work 3 holidays per year.
