About the role#
Nelson Schmidt Inc. is seeking a Public Relations Intern to gain professional experience within a full-service marketing agency. This paid, part-time position offers the opportunity to work alongside PR leadership on client projects. Interns will receive an agency-provided computer and have access to the agency-owned café.
What you'll do#
- Work directly with PR leadership to produce results-oriented work.
- Create and maintain media lists and editorial calendars.
- Draft press releases and media pitches, and assist with distribution to media outlets.
- Collaborate on the development of digital and print content.
- Track media hits and compile coverage reports.
- Research industry trends to identify relevant story angles.
- Develop and schedule social media content for clients and the agency, including performance reporting.
- Perform administrative duties as needed.
What you'll need#
- Senior status or recent graduate with a degree in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or Public Relations.
- Strong writing, editing, and research skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to solve problems using critical thinking and accept constructive feedback.
- A detailed portfolio of personal or professional work.
- Previous internship or entrepreneurial experience is preferred.
