Heart Monitoring Unit Internship - Nights

About the role#

This paid internship serves as an entry pathway into a Non-Invasive Cardiology Technologist position at Nebraska Medicine. It provides structured, on-the-job training in diagnostic cardiology, combining self-study with hands-on clinical experience. Interns progress through telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation training, culminating in an entrance exam to qualify for a permanent technologist role within six months of hire.

What you'll do#

• Perform inpatient and outpatient EKGs for both adult and pediatric patients.
• Apply cardiac monitoring devices, including Holter monitors and cardiac event recorders, and educate patients on their use.
• Support cardiac diagnostic workflows across inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Transcribe test results accurately into the Electronic Health Record system.
• Engage in self-study and mentorship to master cardiac rhythm interpretation.
• Interact directly with patients, nursing staff, and physicians.

What you'll need#

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program.
• Ability to complete the internal training program and pass the required entrance exam within six months of hire.
• Medical experience is preferred, as is coursework in physiology, anatomy, or an Associate of Science degree.
• Ability to maintain full weekly scheduling flexibility, including weekends and on-call shifts.

• Modality: On-site.
• Schedule: Full-time night shifts (6:00 PM - 6:30 AM), including weekends.
