About the role#
The Missing Children Division (MCD) internship provides hands-on experience in supporting cases related to missing and exploited children. This is an unpaid, on-site, full-time position based in Austin, Texas, with rolling terms. Interns are required to work a minimum of 20 hours per week between 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday. While the role is unpaid, interns may receive academic credit through their university and are eligible for reimbursement of parking or public transportation expenses.
What you'll do#
- Provide technical assistance to families, law enforcement, social service agencies, and courts.
- Liaise with law enforcement and state agencies to assist in case resolution.
- Organize case information and maintain detailed case files and documentation.
- Perform research using open source and social media platforms.
- Support the maintenance of the case management database.
- Assist with various NCMEC data projects.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least two years of college with a concentration in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze written materials.
- Proficiency in performing searches across open source and social media platforms.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive information.
