Software Development Intern

About the role#

As a Software Development Intern at myDNA, you will work alongside experienced engineers to build, test, and document software. This role provides hands-on experience in a professional engineering environment, focusing on how products are developed and shipped within the genomics industry.

What you'll do#

• Assist with the development of software features under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Write and run tests, and help reproduce, diagnose, and fix bugs.
• Participate in code reviews and team standups to learn the team's workflow.
• Write and update technical documentation.
• Assist with small data tasks and simple scripts.
• Use version control and follow team build and continuous integration processes.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or Mathematics.
• Foundational programming skills in at least one language, such as Python, C#, Java, or JavaScript.
• Familiarity with SQL and relational databases.
• Basic understanding of version control (Git).
• Basic awareness of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Exposure to a web framework or REST APIs.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Project experience via coursework or personal work with public code available.
