About the role#
As a Software Development Intern at myDNA, you will work alongside experienced engineers to build, test, and document software. This role provides hands-on experience in a professional engineering environment, focusing on how products are developed and shipped within the genomics industry.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the development of software features under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Write and run tests, and help reproduce, diagnose, and fix bugs.
- Participate in code reviews and team standups to learn the team's workflow.
- Write and update technical documentation.
- Assist with small data tasks and simple scripts.
- Use version control and follow team build and continuous integration processes.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or Mathematics.
- Foundational programming skills in at least one language, such as Python, C#, Java, or JavaScript.
- Familiarity with SQL and relational databases.
- Basic understanding of version control (Git).
- Basic awareness of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Exposure to a web framework or REST APIs.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Project experience via coursework or personal work with public code available.
